Donald Hagen, 88, of Kaukauna, Wis.
Donald “Don” Joseph Hagen (also known as Donnie, as he was affectionately called by his siblings), 88, of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, found his peace after a prolonged ailment on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at his home.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 26, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Appleton, Wisconsin, with the Rev. Jim Leary officiating.
Donald Hagen was born Sept. 12, 1928, in Glencoe, the son of the late Alfred and Angela (Griep) Hagen. He received his engineering degree from the University of Minnesota, and proudly served in the U.S. Navy and his country in the Korean Conflict. He spent his career working at Allis Chalmers until retirement.
He was a devout Catholic, enjoyed Bible study, and served his community, volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul. He cherished the games of tennis and golf. He kept himself fit at the YMCA.
On Nov. 17, 1956, he was united in marriage with the late Marguerite “Peg” M. hagen in Milwaukee, and they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary last year. The couple traveled in the U.S., South America and Europe. Mr. Hagen also visited the Caribbean and went as far as China.
He is lovingly survived by his two sons, Xav Crispin Flowers of Washington, D.C., and Anthony Thomas (Kathy) Hagen of Neenah, Wisconsin; sister, Lois (John) Schwob of Minneapolis; three grandchildren, Alix McCandless (fiancée Julie Wendorf) and Garett and Tristan Hagen; great-grandson, Xander McCandless; sister-in-law, Barbara (Fred) Sperry of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; brothers-in-law, Patrick Rhody of Rockford, Illinois, and Paul Schober of Jackson, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peg, in November 2016; brother, Harold Hagen; and sisters, Ruth Jacobs and Beatrice Hahn.
