Duane Marvin Ehrenberg was born March 27, 1936, in Glencoe, the son of Ervin A. and Mabel L. (Dreier) Ehrenberg. Rev. A. Streufert baptized Duane April 19, 1936 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. He confirmed his faith on April 2, 1950, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. A. Streufert as officiant. Duane’s confirmation verse was Matthew 24:13, “He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”
After graduating from the Glencoe High School, Mr. Ehrenberg enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served until his honorable discharge June 30, 1956. He had reached rank of corporal and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

Mr. Ehrenberg was a retired member of the Young America Fire Department and had volunteered yearly at Stiftungsfest until this past year. He had also served on various church offices at St. John’s Lutheran Church. He loved sports and had volunteered as girls’ softball coach for many years.
Mr. Ehrenberg loved the outdoors, whether trips to the cabin on Stalker Lake, deer and grouse hunting, fishing, feeding and watching the birds. He was always content in nature. Mr. Ehrenberg enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, coffee with friends and sitting on his front porch. He cherished family celebrations and get-togethers, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He’ll be remembered for being supportive and welcoming to everyone. Whatever Mr. Ehrenberg had planned, whether it was fishing, working in the yard, or mowing the lawn, he always said, “better go to work.”
