Elaine Witte, 88, of Glencoe

Elaine Norma (Breyer) Witte

Elaine Norma (Breyer) Witte, 88, of Glencoe, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at her home in Glencoe.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 16, 11 a.m., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe with interment following at the church cemetery.
Pastor Peter Adelsen was the officiating clergy.
Yvonne Schuette was the organist and soloist Glenda Schuft sang “Abide With Me.”
“Nearer My God To Thee,” “How Great Thou Art,” and “Amazing Grace” were the congregational hymns.
Tricia Remus, Corey Breyer, Michael Breyer, Randy Breyer, Timothy Breyer, and Steven Latzke were the casket-bearers.
Elaine Norma (Breyer) Witte was born June 24, 1930, in Bergen Township, McLeod County. She was the daughter of Emil and Martha (Kunkel) Breyer. Pastor J. A. Schert baptized Mrs. Witte as an infant July 6, 1930, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Bergen Township, rural Lester Prairie. Rev. Alf. Streufert confirmed her in her faith as a youth April 2, 1944, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. She received her education in Glencoe, graduating with the Glencoe High School Class of 1948.
Rev. A. H. Fellwock united Mrs. Witte in marriage to Lawrence William Witte Jan. 16, 1954, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. They made their home in Glencoe. She and Lawrence shared over 49 years of marriage until Lawrence passed away June 16, 2003.
In addition to being a loving wife and homemaker, Mrs. Witte worked at the Preiss Clothing Store, Heritage and Temple in Glencoe. She was an active member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Mrs. Witte enjoyed reading, fishing and going to Long Lake in Richmond. She also loved Christmas gatherings and treasured the time spent with family and friends.
Mrs. Witte is survived by her brother, Ernie (Jan) Breyer, of Glencoe; sisters-in-law, Marianne Breyer of Glencoe, Bernice Breyer of Glencoe; nephew, nieces, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Witte was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Martha Breyer; husband, Lawrence Witte; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dianne Breyer, Arvid and Aroline Breyer, Harold Breyer, Arden Breyer
