Elroy Frauendienst, 79, of Gaylord

Elroy Frauendienst, 79, of Gaylord, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 10, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County.
The Rev. Harold Storm officiated. Lisa Uecker was the organist, and soloist Darwin Frauendienst sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “How Great Thou Art.” Congregational hymns were “Lift High the Cross,” “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee,” “As With Gladness, Men of Old” and “Beautiful Savior.” Roxanne Leistiko was the cross bearer.
Pallbearers were Todd Kuehl, Jerry Lee Scharpe, Brian Frauendienst, Tim Frauendienst, Tom Frauendienst and Dennis Kuehl.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Elroy William Elmer Frauendienst was born Dec. 7, 1935, in New Auburn Township, Sibley County. He was the son of John and Ida (Grewe) Frauendienst. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his faith as a youth in 1951, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County. He received his education at St. John’s Lutheran Parochial School, Dryden Township.
Mr. Frauendienst resided on the family farm all his life. He farmed in Sibley and McLeod counties.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed gardening, tractors, pheasant hunting, his cats and dogs, smoking his pipe and fishing.
He became a resident of Oak Terrace Health Care Center on Dec. 31, 2011, when he came to need assistance with his daily care.
He is survived by his brothers and their wives, Edwin and Mavis Frauendienst and Raymond and Phyllis Frauendienst, all of New Auburn; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ida Frauendienst; sisters, Iona (Ernie) Scharpe, Elfina (Clarence) Kuehl and Ruth Frauendienst; brothers, Willard (Marcella) Frauendienst, Emery Frauendienst and Wilbert Frauendienst; nieces, Tamera Frauendienst, Lynell Kuehl and Cora (Jerry) Janke; and nephew, Gary Frauendienst.
