Encourages attendance at ditch hearing Sept. 12

To the Editor:
Most, of not all, of Sibley County landowners who own land on County Ditches 40, 50, 55, 61 and 67, along with landowners on County Ditch 18 and Judicial Ditch 18, have been notified of the continuation hearing from June 27, which is now set for Sept. 12 at 1 p.m. in the basement of the Sibley County Courthouse.
At the June 27 hearing, two items were referred back to the viewers: outlet benefits to County Ditch 18, Judicial Ditch 18, County Ditch 61 and County Ditch 67 that were levied by County Ditch 55, along with County Ditch 56 levied by County Ditch 67; and re-determination of benefits for the city of Gaylord. The outlet benefits to the various ditches were reduced some, and the benefits to the city of Gaylord were increased for the acres on County Ditch 55, but not for the city acres on County Ditch 67.
These items, along with others, will be discussed at the hearing. Everyone’s questions and concerns need to be address.
I want to stress the importance of this hearing. Without involvement by landowners, viewers reports would have been and will be approved as presented. You, the landowner, and future landowners, will live with these re-determinations of benefits.
Again, I encourage all landowners involved with land on these ditches to be at the hearing to ask questions and voice your concerns.
