Carlson’s Apple Orchard in Win-
sted, has been offering 12 varieties
of locally grown crispy, crunchy
apples. You can either purchase
them already picked or take a walk
in the beautiful orchard to pick
them yourself. And when you are
there, you have to have the apple
pie.
Owners Joe and Colleen Carlson
didn’t plan on making pies when
they opened the orchard, but every-
one asked for it. Today, they make
over 18,000 pies a year. That’s 500 a
day! Plus, you can get the tradition-
al slice of apple pie with ice cream
for only 99¢ with your meal.
The Carlsons planted the first
trees in 1985 and opened the restau-
rant in a 1932 dairy barn in 1992.
They have two full-time employees
plus an additional 50 employees
seasonally.
Besides the pies, the bakery and
restaurant also features great tasty
sandwiches on fresh-baked bread,
delicious soups and other baked
goods.
At Carlson’s, “the customer is
king!” Plan a trip to Carlson’s Or-
chard Bakery and Restaurant
