Fire damages former parochial school in Silver Lake
An early morning fire heavily damaged a former parochial school — now a home — in Silver Lake this morning.
Silver Lake Fire Chief Dale Kosek said the fire apparently started in the electrical wiring of the building, and traveled through the uninsulated walls of the bulding to the roof. The call came in about 1:20 a.m., and firefighters from Silver Lake, Hutchinson and Glencoe were on the scene until about 6 a.m. There were no injuries to either the family or the firefighters at the scene.
"That's the main thing — no one got hurt," said Kosek.
More information about the fire will be published in the Feb. 25 print edition of The Chronicle.
