Foss excited for opening day at GSL

A high school student heard the news Matt Foss would be the new principal at Glencoe-Silver Lake Junior-Senior High School this year.
“Yesss,” was his reaction.
The student knows Foss as a former para-professional at Helen Baker Elementary School and as a student teacher at Lakeside Elementary School in Silver Lake. When the 2018-19 school year begins next month, Foss will be greeting students when they arrive at the high school and most every day through next June. Foss doesn't want to spend much time in his small, windowless office. Foss promises he'll be most commonly found in the hallways talking with students, in classrooms supporting teachers and the work they do, and in the community promoting communications between the junior-senior high school, the school district and residents.
Foss replaces Paul Sparby, who left Glencoe-Silver Lake for Waconia. Foss has been working since he signed his contract three weeks ago. The GSL School Board formally approved it Monday, Aug. 13.
