Girls' Basketball Preview: No more 'Mr. Nice Guy'
With four returning starters and one more waiting in the wings, the future may indeed be now for the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team.
“It’s pretty great to have all of our starters back, save Zoe, who should be back by the end of January,” coach Zach Otto-Fisher said.
“Zoe,” is sophomore forward Zoe Christensen, the Panthers’ power in the paint who is in the final stages of recovery from ACL surgery.
Barring a setback, Christensen is set to be medically cleared to get on the court on Jan. 4 – with a one-month progression to follow. The hope is she will be back to full speed in time for the postseason.
“We’re hoping to have her back for half-games in February – when the fun begins,” Otto-Fisher said.
Not that the Panthers are merely treading water until they can set their tree up in the lane – far from it.
