Girls' basketball swept last week
Going up against the top two teams in the Wright County Conference West last week, the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team certainly had their hands full.
The Panthers held true to their 2016 form of alternating two wins with a pair of losses by falling to both the Royals and Cardinals on Tuesday, Feb. 9 and Friday, Feb. 12, respectively.
A 69-45 loss to Watertown-Mayer is GSL’s second-largest setback of the season, with the 24-point differential trailing only that of a 74-46 setback against St. Peter on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
The Royals, who beat the Panthers 78-59 in Watertown earlier this season, never trailed on GSL’s home floor.
While the Panthers had a tremendously difficult time getting a shot to fall, the visitors rolled to a 12-point advantage before running it up in the second half en route to the lopsided final result.
