Girls' golfers ready to hit the links

The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ golf team returned to the links (nearly) on schedule
this season – a far cry from last April’s meteorological hijinx.
“Practice just isn’t the same inside,” coach Emily Forberg said.
Winter released its grip on time for the Panthers to get in a meet on Monday, April 8.
However, a snowstorm forecast for later this week threatens to once again throw
the early season into flux.
“We’re supposed to be in New London-Spicer on Thursday and Litchfield on Friday...
we’ll see,” Forberg said with a cringe.
Looking to get in as much golf as they can this season are the team’s three senior
captains: Maddy Brown, Grace Kosek and Kenady Rosckes, as well as four
newcomers in Ashley and Alyssa Radke, Ava Elias and Brooke Brown.
Forberg is looking for the Panthers to make a climb up the Wright County
Conference West standings as the season unfolds.
“Golf is a team sport as well as an individual sport. As a team we would like to
improve our ranking in the conference from last year,” Forberg said. “I think we can
do that with a combination of our returning players and our new girls who have
proven to be strong at practice so far.”
GSL is scheduled to play at home on Monday.
