Gladys Ida Busse, 84, of Gaylord

Gladys Ida Busse, 84, of Gaylord, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2014, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Arlington.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. The Rev. Ronald Mathison officiated.
Eunice Asmus was the organist. A duet consisting of Becky Busse and Renae Busse sang “Amazing Grace.” Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art” and “Abide With Me.”
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Richard Busse, Nathan Busse, Eric Sell, Scott Busse, Bryce Busse and Dan Busse. Her granddaughter, Amy Sell, was an honorary pallbearer.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Gladys Ida (Schauer) Busse was born Oct. 27, 1929, in Glencoe, the daughter of Arthur and Ida (Bruesehoff) Schauer. She was baptized Nov. 17, 1929, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, by the Rev. W.M. Schlachtenhaufen. She was confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 18, 1943, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn by the Rev. W. Striepe. She was educated at a country school.
On April 25, 1948, she was united in marriage to Marvin Busse at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn Township, Sibley County. Their marriage was blessed with five children. On Dec. 10, 1950, Marvin and Gladys Busse moved to their farm in Dryden Township, rural Arlington. They resided there for 60 years. They shared 50 years of marriage before Mr. Busse’s death on Sept. 25, 2005.
Mrs. Busse was a loving homemaker and mother. She enjoyed gardening, reading and working on puzzle books and word searches. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord, where she enjoyed going to church functions, participating in ladies’ groups and being on the altar guild committee.
She entered Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord on Feb. 3, 2014.
She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Eileen) Busse of Arlington and Darrell (Lynell) Busse of Glencoe; grandchildren, Richard (Becky) Busse of Winthrop, Nathan (Renae) Busse of Chaska, Amy (Eric) Sell of Gaylord, Scott (Denise) Busse of Glencoe, Bryce Busse of Arlington, and Dan (special friend Chelsey) Busse of Arlington; great-grandchildren, Halley, Miah, Brynn, Alexander, Elizabeth, Eva, Holdan, Beau, Reid, Quin, Meara, Laira, Cybli and Kynzi; sister, Gertrude (Donald) Jahnke of Pequot Lakes; brother-in-law, Orville (Dorothy) Busse of Arlington; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ida Schauer; husband, Marvin Busse; three sons in infancy; and grandson, Wade Busse.
