Glencoe is 5th safest city in state
Glencoe is the fifth safest city in Minnesota, according to Safewise, a company that specializes in safety and home security.
Safewise recently listed the top 20 safest cities in Minnesota, and Glencoe ranked fifth. Safewise looks at population, and property crime and violent crime rates when determining the safest cities.
Glencoe, with a population of 5,495, had just .18 violent crimes for each 1,000 people in its population, and a property crime rate of 12.37 per 1,000 people.
The statistics were based on 2016 FBI crime reports.
Elko New Market was considered the safest city, followed by Dayton, Orono, Corcoran and Glencoe. Rounding out the next 15 safest cities were Isanti, Minnetrista, Falcon Heights, Montevideo, LaCrescent, Becker, Farmington, Little Falls, Cottage Grove, Lino Lakes, Sartell, Medina, Edina, North Mankato and St. Francis.
