Glencoe Days set Friday, Saturday in Oak Leaf Park

The Glencoe Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the line-up for the 2017 Glencoe Days celebration, set for June 23 and 24. Unless otherwise noted, all events are in Oak Leaf Park.
The celebration gets off to an early start Thursday, June 22, with “Carnival Night” Midway amusement rides starting at 5 p.m.
Events for Friday evening, June 23, include: the opening of the amusement rides and food stands at 5 p.m.; the annual corn feed, sponsored by Seneca Foods, at 5 p.m.; GaGa Ball, sponsored by Subway, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; face painting and sand art by Candyland Concession, 5 p.m.; bingo in Shelter 1, 5:30 p.m.; children’s Glencoe history activities sponsored by McLeod County Historic Partnership, 6 p.m.; Hammerschlagen, sponsored by the Glencoe Woodworking Club, 6 p.m.; Glencoe Brewers vs. Brownton Bruins, 7 p.m.; men’s slow-pitch softball tournament, sponsored by Unhinged! Pizza, 7 p.m.; and free live music by Judd Avenue, 8 p.m. to midnight.
Saturday — Glencoe Days two-mile fun run and walk sponsored by Glencoe Regional Health Services, register at Shelter 4, 9 a.m.; slow-pitch softball, 9 a.m.; Glencoe Days parade (on 14th Street from Pryor Avenue to Ives Avenue, north to 16th Street, and then back to Pryor), 11 a.m.; amusement rides open, 11 a.m.; food stands open, noon; face painting and sand art, 1 p.m.; kids’ quarter carnival sponsored by Mill City Credit Union, 1:30 p.m.; kids pedal-tractor pull, sponsored by the Glencoe Lions, 2 p.m.; pie in the park, sponsored by the Glencoe Historic Preservation Society, 2 p.m.; mud volleyball, 2 p.m.; Emanuel Lutheran rib feed, 2 p.m.; bingo in Shelter 1, 2 p.m.; free live music by Polka Beats, 3 p.m.-6 p.m.; bingo in Shelter 1, 6 p.m.; fireman’s challenge, sponsored by the Glencoe Fire Department, 6 p.m.; free live music, Shotgun Wedding (K102 Pre-Heat Party), 8 p.m.-midnight; and the fireworks celebration, 10 p.m.
