Glencoe wins Montevideo VFW Tournament
With five wins in its first five games, the Glencoe VFW Post 5102 baseball team has begun its season in fine form.
Not even a full week into its season, 5102 has already claimed a bit of hardware by winning the Montevideo Tournament on Saturday, June 11.
Glencoe topped Morris 11-2 and bested tourney host Montevideo 13-1 to earn the championship trophy.
Starting pitcher Carsen Streich tossed all seven innings against Morris, striking out 14 batters, while walking two with five hits and two unearned runs allowed.
Taylor Schauer paced Glencoe’s potent attack at the plate by going 3-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Spencer Lepel also went 3-for-5, logging one RBI and one run scored.
