Gridiron rally comes up short
After a good week of practice, the Glencoe-Silver Lake football team felt it had a good handle on what to expect from Dassel-Cokato Friday night. The Chargers had a few surprises in store for the visiting Panthers.
But Dassel-Cokato waited for the game with the Panthers to unveil a series of running option plays and a hook-and-ladder play neither the Panthers or any of its opponents had seen. The Chargers used the surprises to accumulate important yardage, including a pair of touchdowns in their 28-21 overtime victory over GSL Friday night, Sept. 27.
After the Panthers tied the score late in the fourth quarter, the game came down to each team having a chance to score from the 10-yard line in overtime. GSL won the coin toss but wasn’t able to punch the ball into the end zone.
