GSL volleyball falls in North subsection finals
It wasn’t without its thrills and chills, but the Glencoe-Silver Lake volleyball team’s runs through the Section 2AA Tournament came to a close in a four-set loss to Southwest Christian in the North subsection final on Thursday, Nov. 2.
The Panthers’ roar was felt before GSL eventually bowed out, however.
Two evening earlier, on Halloween night at New Prague High School, the fourth-seeded Panthers took down No. 1 seed Norwood Young America in a three-set sweep.
“I could not be more proud as a coach with the girls coming together as a team and staying head strong, coach Lori Schwirtz said of the win.
GSL, which had lost twice to the Raiders in the regular season, swamped NYA to the tune of a 25-16, 25-20, 27-25 win.
