GSL girls split in pair of section matchups
After splitting a pair of home matchups against fellow Section 2AA competitors, the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team entered this week with an even 3-3 record on the season.
The Panthers got out to a 12-0 lead on visiting Sibley East on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
However, unlike previous blowouts against Tri-City United and LeSueur-Henderson, the pesky Wolverines rallied and remained in the game until GSL pulled away late for a 72-55 victory.
Guard Mac Monahan led nine GSL scorers with a game-high 28 points, while backcourt mate Maddie Monahan chipped in 16 points. Forward Sam Voigt had nine points and a team-high eight rebounds in the win.
Forward Mickalyn Frahm posted six rebounds, as did Maddie Monahan – with the latter also logging a team high six assists.
Mac and Maddie Monahan also shared the team lead in steals with five apiece.
