GSL junior high Knowledge Bowlers capture top 2 spots at 30-team meet

Glencoe-Silver Lake’s seventh- to ninth-grade Knowledge Bowlers traveled to Marshall Monday, Dec. 18, for a large meet involving all the “Junior High” Knowledge Bowl teams in Region 6, which is the region in which GSL normally competes. GSL took five teams to compete against 30 other teams from the region.
GSL Silver started in first place with 51 points on the written round, and competed in Room One for the whole meet. Although it won the Room One competition in each of the four rounds, it faced some excellent competition which held the scores down somewhat. The Room One scores were 22-7-3, 14-11-8, 14-13-10, and 10-9-6. The team finished the meet with 117.0 points and the gold medals. This group included Allie Gronlund, Kendra Klobe, Vera Kornilova, Eli Kuehn, Paul Sievert and Nathan Warner.
GSL White began the meet in fifth place with 45 points, and won its first round 17-12-6 to move up to Room One for the next two rounds. For the fourth round, it dropped to Room Two, which it won 12-10-9. It finished the meet with 97.0 points and second place. This team included Kobe Boozikee, Lilly Ehrke, Devin Forcier, Kayla Reichow and Rachel Trebesch.
