GSL boys drop season opener

 It was a predictably up-and-down performance as the new-look Glencoe-Silver Lake boys’ basketball team made its season debut at St. Peter on Friday, Dec. 2. A Panthers’ squad featuring four new starters had its moments, but in the end it wasn’t enough as the host Saints downed their visitors 60-55.
GSL came out shooting and hit four of their first five attempts. However, the hot start left coach Robb DeCorsey a bit flat.
“I wasn’t exactly excited by our start, because even though we were hitting shots, we were not putting a ton of offensive pressure on,” he said. “We were living on outside shots and in the back of my mind, I knew it likely wasn’t going to last.”
Indeed, the scorching start cooled off. The Panthers did not score for another 14 possessions and St. Peter took a 27-20 lead into halftime. 
“We missed some good shots, but everything was rushed,” DeCorsey said. “We were just taking the first shot that was available.”
