GSL on a four-game win streak

It was quite an impressive week for the Glencoe-Silver Lake baseball team.
After taking a week off, the Panthers won all four games they played after returning to the field, outscoring their opponents 27-1 in the process.
The streak began with a 7-0 shutout at Mound Westonka on Tuesday, April 23.
Starting pitcher Brett Baumgarten struck out eight batters over six shutout innings. He allowed just six hits before handing the ball to reliever Drew Hedtke, who notched one strikeout in a spotless inning of relief.
Spencer Lilienthal logged three RBI with a sacrifice fly in the second inning and a two-run single in the seventh.
Ty Christensen scored two runs with one RBI in an evenly-dispersed offensive day for the visiting side.
That game was prologue for the offensive explosion that GSL displayed against visiting Rockford on Thursday, April 25.
Chandler Glaeser had the biggest day of his Panther career against the Rockets, posting 11 RBI on a five-homer day that included a grand slam and a three-run blast.
Glaeser also earned the win in Game One of the twinbill, scattering two hits and three walks over six innings, while striking out nine batters before Christensen threw the final inning of a 7-0 victory.
Glaeser also went 2-for-3 at the plate, with four RBI and two runs scored with two homers.
Gabe Roepke scored twice with one RBI.
Glaeser’s hot bat went thermonuclear in Game Two, as he smacked three homers in a 3-for-3 game with three runs scored and seven RBI.
GSL pounded Rockford with runs five-of-six turns at bat.
Dane Schwirtz, Bennett Lepel, Lilienthal and Roepke each went 2-for-3, with Schwirtz scoring three runs and Lepel crossing home plate twice.
The Panthers won 11-1 in five innings, as starting pitcher Korey Johnson allowed seven hits and one earned run while striking out two batters in the truncated complete-game win.
GSL closed out the winning stretch by defeating Norwood Young America 2-0 on the road on Saturday, April 27.
Hedtke threw a complete-game three-hitter, striking out 10 and walking two.
Reece Schwirtz and Johnson both scored for the visitors in the narrow win.
GSL traveled to Litchfield on Tuesday, April 30, after the Chronicle went to press.
