GSL girls’ cagers win 2AA opener
And then there was one.
The Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team is carrying the torch as the final surviving winter sports program after the Panthers won their postseason opener on Saturday, Feb. 27.
The Panthers used a 10-0 run late in the first half to put away a pesky Sibley East squad and emerge from the Section 2AA North subsectional opener with a 56-35 victory.
“I think our girls did a great job defensively, throwing a couple different presses at them, and then offensively did well,” coach Zach Otto-Fisher said.
Guard Miranda Grack, who scored eight straight points in the midst of GSL’s decisive first-half run, led all scorers with 18 points in the game.
