GSL girls win a pair

After losing its season opener at home to close out November, the Glencoe-Silver Lake girls’ basketball team opened December in fine form with a pair of road wins to improve to 2-1 on the season.
The Panthers surged to their first win of the year at St. Peter on Tuesday, Dec. 4, taking a 31-16 halftime lead en route to a 47-33 victory.
Guard Miah Monahan paced GSL with 21 points and eight steals. Forward Kasidy Cacka led the squad with 10 rebounds; Monahan and Cacka each logged four assists. Guard Alison Kettner also chipped in 10 points.
The Panthers followed up that win with another, defeating Martin County West 46-36 on Friday, Dec. 7. Individual statistics were not available for that contest.
GSL was back home on Tuesday, Dec. 11, facing Wright County Conference East opponent Delano in a game played after the Chronicle went to press. The Panthers head back out on the road for another WCC East matchup at Hutchinson on Friday night.
