GSL Mock Trial continues to draw new participants

Glencoe-Silver Lake’s Mock Trial program has grown to include a junior varsity team for the first time this year.
The eight new Mock Trial participants have a variety of reasons for joining the program.
“I’ve had people tell me how much fun it is,” said Dusty Wendinger, a sophomore. Natalie Orocio, a freshman, said she is looking to be an attorney as a career, and finds the experience helpful.
Mock Trial is a combination of acting, planning and research. Members take on roles as attorneys and witnesses, and compete against other teams in actual courtrooms with actual judges.
Katie Twiss is a four-year participant in Mock Trial, and she likes the fact that it combines acting skills with thinking skills. In particular, she said, she enjoys moments in which testimony can turn the momentum of the trial.
