GSL Robotics team does well at regionals

The GSL Robotics team had a great showing at the North Star regional April 6-8 at Mariucci Arena on the University of Minnesota campus. The team had four matches on April 7 and two matches April 8. The first match the team was paired with Team 1710 From Olathe, Kansas. The third alliance partner did not have a working robot, so the team competed with just two robots. The alliance won the first match 230-140.
Match two saw Team 4665 paired with Team 2227 from Fridley. This time, as a two-robot alliance, the team lost the match 210-277. Match three saw the first time GSL would have two alliance partners, Team 4632 from Monticello and Team 4693 from Rockford. Final score of that match was 195-245. At this point, the robot had climbed the rope at the finish all three times.
Match four was a great showing. The team was paired with Team 5826 from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and Team 3848 of Kenyon. The alliance won that match with a score of 290-185. Match five, the team worked with Team 2207 from St. Paul and Team 3206 from Woodbury. The alliance won this match 260-201. The last match on Friday was with Teams 3018 of St. Peter and 2450 of St. Paul. Final score of the match was 235-260. The team finished 3-3 on the day.
Saturday, April 8, began with an introduction from U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar. The seventh match saw the team working with Teams 5626 of Norwood and 5278 of Minneapolis. Match score was 255-195. The final match was a pairing of Teams 4648 of Jordan, and 4225 of St. Paul. Final score was 200-345.
The team had a respectable showing and a very well-designed and built robot. The team finished with a rank of 31 of 60 teams. The team is very proud of the fact the robot did not break or fail once during the event.
