MINUTES OF SPECIAL
MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #2895
February 1, 2018, 6:45 p.m.

Board Chair Alsleben called the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m. Roll call attendance was taken, the following board members were present: Christianson, Kuester, Twiss, and VonBerge. Board member Lindeman was absent. Also present, Superintendent Chris Sonju; Administrative Assistant Brenda Langanki. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.Announcements - None. Board member Kuester motioned to approve the agenda, Director Twiss seconded the motion. All in favor, motion carried. New Business A. Resolution Relating to the Employment of an Employee. All or a portion of the meeting may be closed on the following grounds:
1. The meeting is closed for preliminary consideration of allegations or charges against employees pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 13D.05, subdivision 2(b) and private educational data pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 13D.05, subdivision 2(a)(3). Portions of the closed meeting also will be based upon the attorney-client privilege pursuant to Minnesota Statutes Section 13D.05, subdivision 3(b) to allow the School Board needs to meet with its attorney in a confidential setting to obtain advice regarding potential imminent legal action related to the School District’s allegations and defenses in an employment matter. Christianson motioned at 6:45 p.m. to recess the meeting to closed session.
Administrative Assistant Langanki wasexcused from the closed session of the meeting. At 7:10 the Special Meeting of the School Board was reopened. Chairman Alsleben stated that the board members had discussed and reviewed the resolution in closed session.Board member Twiss introduced the following resolution and moved to its adoption:
EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING
OF SCHOOL BOARD OF
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 2859 GLENCOE-SILVER LAKE, MINNESOTA
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No. 2859, Glencoe-Silver Lake Minnesota, was held on the 1st day of February, 2018, at 6:45 p.m.
The following Board members were present: Alsleben, Christianson, Kuester, Twiss and VonBerge and the following were absent: Lindeman.
RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE
EMPLOYMENT OF THE EMPLOYEE
IDENTIFIED IN THE ATTACHMENT HERETO
(HEREINAFTER REFERRED TO
AS THE "EMPLOYEE")
WHEREAS, the Employee is a full-time employee of Independent School District No. 2859 and completed the employment probationary period; and WHEREAS, the Employee is not a veteran within the provisions of the Veterans Preference Act; and WHEREAS, the Employee is subject to terms and conditions of employment as set forth in an applicable collective bargaining agreement; and WHEREAS, the Administration of the School District has recommended certain action with respect to the Employee on the grounds set forth in "Exhibit A." NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED by the School Board of Independent School District No. 2859 as follows:
l. That action be taken with respect to the employment of the Employee, effective immediately, in the manner and on the grounds set out in Exhibit A attached hereto.
2. That the Superintendent is directed to send written notice to the Employee regarding of the School Board's action and said notice shall be in substantially the form as provided in Exhibit A attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference.
3. That at this time, the contents of the exhibits of this Resolution contain private data on individuals pursuant to the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, Minnesota Statutes Chapter 13. The Superintendent is specifically directed to maintain the private data classification of these materials in accordance with all applicable law, including the provisions of Minnesota Statutes Chapter 13.
The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Board Member VonBerge and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Alsleben, Christianson, Kuester, Twiss, and VonBerge. and the following voted against the same: none whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
Motion made to adjourn by Director VonBerge at 7:13 p.m., seconded by Director Kuester. All in favor, motion carried. Meeting adjourned.
