SCHOOL BOARD MEETING MINUTES GLENCOE-SILVER LAKE SCHOOLS - INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #2859
DATE: September 13, 2021 TIME 7:00 p.m. PLACE: GSL Schools Community Room #443/444

Board Chair Lindeman called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The following board members were present: Alsleben, Christianson, Lemke, Lindeman, Luckhardt, and VonBerge, Superintendent Chris Sonju; Business Manager Michelle Sander; Principal’s Bill Butler and Matt Foss; Administrative Assistant Trisha Zajicek; GSL Technology Staff Mike Morris; McLeod County Chronicle Karin Ramige; Members of the public Robert Tammy Martin and Melissa Schlechter.
The Board Approved the consent agenda; Hiring’s: Guadalupe Acevedo –Lead Cultural Liaison and Interpreter, Jenna Jochum Lakeside Title 1 Paraprofessional, Cassandra DeCasas Lakeside Special Ed Paraprofessional, Al Lavender Junior High Football Coach & High School DCD Paraprofessional, Thomas Woosley High School Science Teacher, Sarah Arandia Long Term Sub Grades 3-6, Sarah Domoradzki High School DED Special Education Teacher, Ashley Braun High School Yearbook Advisor, Krista Smith High School DCD Paraprofessional, Shannon Mattson Long Term Sub Special Ed Teacher, Janet Plath LTS Special Ed Paraprofessional, Resignations: Brett Hertzog High School Yearbook Advisor, Shelia Husted Lakeside Special Ed Paraprofessional, Natalie Otto Lincoln Special Ed Paraprofessional, Alison Willard Lakeside Special Ed Paraprofessional, Mary Jo Schimelpfenig Early Childhood Screener, Leave Requests: Morgan Henke FMLA January 1, 2022 through March 18, 2022, Transfers: Vanessa Rivera High School DCD Paraprofessional transfer to High School Special Ed Paraprofessional, Lisa Sullivan-Stender High School EBD Paraprofessional transfer to High School Structured Study Hall Paraprofessional, Heather Leier High School DCD Paraprofessional transfer to High School Library Paraprofessional, Patti Mickolicheck High School Study Hall Supervisor transfer to a .5 FTE EBD Paraprofessional.
The Board approved the following: Designating Superintendent Sonju as the school District Identified Official with Authority (IOwA) and Business Manager Sander IOwA Proxy for the 2021-2022 school year; Certify the maximum amount permitted by law for the preliminary levy for the 2022-2023 school year; Adopt the Columbus Day resolution. Roll call vote was taken; Directors Alsleben, Christianson, Lemke, Lindeman, Luckhardt, and VonBerge voted for; College in the School contract with Southwest Minnesota State University; Substitute Teacher pay increase; Accounts Payable, Assistant Business Manager, MARSS Coordinator-Food Service Secretary-Administrative Assistant, and Payroll Coordinator Job Descriptions.
Principal Foss and Activities Director Schwirtz presented to the board on student activities eligibility. This was information only no board action was taken.
Board adopted the following policies: 214, 415, 512, 514, 524.1, 532, 603, 613, 620, 714, 806.
The Board will bring back the following policies for adoption at the next School Board meeting: 507, 508, 527, 528, 541, 542, 606, 619, 730, 807.
The following donations were accepted with appreciation; Taylor Lepel Memorial Fund $5,000.00 Gymnastics.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
