Harlan Walter Harms, 74, Green Isle

Harlan Harms

Harlan Walter Harms, 74, of Green Isle, died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at his home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 18, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington with the Rev. Matthew Rauh officiating. Linda Dose was the organist. Congregational hymns were “Abide With Me,” “Beautiful Savior” and “Rock of Ages.”
Casket bearers were Jim Neubarth, Ryan Neubarth, Shawn Neubarth, Ryan Neubarth (Roger’s son), Robert Neubarth, Randy Neubarth and Dan Neubarth.
Harlan Walter Harms was born Oct. 30, 1942, in Glencoe, the son of Walter and Gertrude (Neubarth) Harms. He was baptized as an infant on Nov. 22, 1942, at Zion Lutheran Church in Green Isle, and was confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 25, 1956, by the Rev. J.G. Bradtke at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. He received his education in Arlington, graduating from Arlington High School.
On Oct. 15, 1980, he was united in marriage to Miyoko Tanaka in Mankato. They made their home in Green Isle. Their marriage was blessed with one son, Van. The couple shared over 16 years of marriage before Mrs. Harms died on April 28, 1996.
Mr. Harms was a farmer. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington. He also was a member of the Green Isle Lions. He enjoyed fishing, fixing things, canning, welding and being a mechanic. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Van Harms of Green Isle; many cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Walter and Gertrude Harms; and wife, Miyoko Harms.
