Hilda Lydia Rannow, 89, of Gaylord

Funeral services for Hilda Lydia Rannow, 89, of Gaylord, were held Saturday, March 29, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord. The Rev. Bill Nelsen officiated.
Mrs. Rannow died Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.
The organist was Lisa Petersen. The reader was Amber Hennessey. Soloist Curt Kahle sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Just a Closer Walk With Thee,” and soloist Amber Hennessey sang “On Eagle’s Wings.” Congregational hymns were “Amazing Grace” and “God Be With You ’Til We Meet Again.”
Honorary pallbearers were the Glencoe VFW Auxiliary to Post 5102. Pallbearers were David Dahlen, Derek Falde, John Nemitz, Terry Nemitz, Larry Neuhaus and Darvin Neuhaus. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery in Glencoe.
Hilda Lydia Neuhaus was born July 12, 1924, in rural Green Isle, to Helmuth and Alvina (Schauer) Neuhaus. She was baptized as an infant at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Green Isle Township, by the Rev. Karl Reuter.
At the age of 9, she moved with her parents to Glencoe. After instruction by the Rev. F.W. Friedrich and the Rev. Alfred Streufert in the chief doctrines of the Christian religion, she confirmed her baptismal vow in the rite of confirmation on April 2, 1939, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
She attended the Lutheran school for two years and the Glencoe school system, graduating as an honor student from Stevens Seminary Glencoe High School with the class of 1943.
Before her marriage, she had been employed by Dr. Martha Goss for several years as a secretary and an assistant. She was a secretary for McLeod Co-op Power Association in Glencoe for 16 years after her marriage, served as treasurer of Hackensack Chamber of Commerce for three years and was a member of the Glencoe VFW Auxiliary Post 5102.
On Sept. 22, 1946, Hilda Neuhaus was united in marriage to Edwin “Eddie” Rannow at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe by the Rev. A. Streufert. The couple was blessed with two daughters. They shared 62 years of marriage before Mr. Rannow died on May 11, 2009.
After her husband’s retirement, they moved to a resort home in Hackensack. Mrs. Rannow was received into associate membership of Union Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, Hackensack, on Sept. 23, 1983. She rejoined Peace United Church of Christ, Glencoe, on Nov. 3, 1996. On May 31, 2009, she became a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gaylord.
Mrs. Rannow had a kind, loving heart and marveled at the beauty of flowers and loved to watch the birds. She especially enjoyed redecorating the various homes she and her husband moved into.
She had a great interest in local, national and international news, also in reading recipe books. Her special times were spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Mrs. Rannow became a resident of Oak Terrace Health Care Center on March 15.
Mrs. Rannow leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Marilyn (John) Fank of Walker and Cynthia Hennessey of Gaylord; grandchildren, Christine Hennessey, Angela Stuedemann (special friend, Peter Lerohl), Jason (Amber) Hennessey, Amy (Jeff) Franke, Melissa (Rick) Haerter and James (Patricia) Fank; great-grandchildren, Caitlin Franke (fiancée, Carl Hoffmann), Emily and Evan Haerter, Bryce and Patience Fank, Ryan and Brooklynn Schuelke, Faith Siegfried-Hennessey, Sawyer, Hunter, twins Tucker and Cooper Hennessey, and Dylan, Jake and Hanna Stuedemann; sisters, Irene Beinke and Lorna Nemitz; sisters-in-law, Myrtice Rannow and Evangeline Neuhaus; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were  her parents, Helmuth and Alvina Neuhaus; husband, Eddie Rannow; brothers, Gerhard and Bernhard Neuhaus; sisters, Elva, Della and Esther; and other relatives and many friends.
