The history of Independence Day
To the Editor:
Independence Day, also called the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday observed in the United States. It is a day of parades, family picnics, a day off from work and fireworks.
July 4, 1776, was the day that the Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress; declaring independence from Great Britain.
Have a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July and remember to display your flag.
