Hospice was part of his end-of-life plan
Whether it was time with his family, playing jokes on people or time spent fishing, Larry Crabb lived life his way. It only made sense the Glencoe man chose his own path for care at the end of his life.
Crabb died Jan. 13 at GlenFields Living with Care from the effects of heart disease and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), a chronic lung condition in which the air sacs in a person’s lungs no longer work properly, making it difficult for them to breathe. He was 83.
Crabb knew his days on earth were few when he told his doctors he wanted to have his life reach its conclusion in hospice care. He spent the last 11 days of his life in hospice in the Allina Home Health Care program. It was his way of taking the weight of his impending passing from his wife and family.
