Inez Bertha Alsleben, 91, of Glencoe

Inez Alsleben

Inez Bertha Alsleben, 91, of Glencoe, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 1, at 1:30 p.m., at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Katherine Rood officiating. Twyla Kirkeby will be the organist. Soloist Katherine Grant will perform “The Old Rugged Cross.” Congregational hymns will be “How Great Thou Art,” “Rock of Ages” and “Old Rugged Cross.”
Casket bearers will be Duran Koester, Norm Schultz, Mark Schultz, Doug Schultz, Lowell Litzau and Larry Litzau. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe.
Inez Bertha Alsleben was born June 7, 1926, at her home in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, the daughter of Hermit and Martha (Witt) Schultz. She was baptized as an infant on June 15, 1926, and was confirmed in her faith as a youth in September 1939 by the Rev. Knoll, both at St. Johannes Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township, Sibley County. She received her education at the Sibley Country School through eighth grade.
On Oct. 28, 1945, she was united in marriage to Erwin Alsleben by the Rev. Mueller at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn. The couple made their home in Glencoe, and their marriage was blessed with three daughters, Victoria, Bonnie and Cindy. The couple shared over 61 years of marriage before Mr. Alsleben’s death on Jan. 24, 2007.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs. Alsleben worked as a housekeeper until 2003, when she retired. She was a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
She enjoyed flower gardening, dancing, traveling and fishing. She cherished the time spent with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Victoria (Conrad) Lachermeier of Clear Lake, Bonnie Alsleben (significant other Marcel Fasching) of Glencoe and Cindy (Larry) Schwarz of Apple Valley; grandchildren, Jada (Bill) Parsons, Jamie Alsleben, Desiree (Ryan) Lienhard and Timothy Schwarz; great-grandchildren, Braydon Washington, Jeremiah Stack, Jerrica Stack, Paige Lienhard and Claire Lienhard; sisters, Adeline Litzau of Glencoe and Bernice Bierstedt of Gaylord; sister-in-law, Della Schultz of Glencoe; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Martha Schultz; husband, Erwin Alsleben; grandson, Jason Lachermeier; siblings, Alpha (Ewald) Redman, Clarence Schultz, Ben (Minnie) Schultz, Vernon (Lucille) Schultz, Ralph Schultz, Leonard (Martha) Schultz, and Olivia (Marvin) Borth; and brothers-in-law, Melvin Litzau and Harold Bierstedt.
