Joan T. “Joaner” Schrupp, 62, of Norwood Young America passed away at her residence Sunday, Jan. 6.
A celebration of life prayer service is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19, 2 p.m., at St. Paul’s UCC in Plato. A gathering of family and friends runs from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
Joan Theresa “Joaner” Schrupp was born Jan. 27, 1956, in Minneapolis. She is the daughter of Lloyd A. Schroeder and Germaine Anna (Jacques) Schroeder. Joaner was baptized and confirmed at St. Hubert’s Catholic Church in Chanhassen. She grew up in Chanhassen and attended St. Hubert’s Catholic School and later graduated from Minnetonka High School.
Mrs. Schrupp had worked as the head cook for St. Pius X Catholic School for many years. She had also worked for NordicTrack and Kerber Financial prior to beginning her own cleaning business.
Mrs. Schrupp was united in marriage with Michael McManus at the Word Of Life Church in Hutchinson Dec. 28, 1985. She was later joined in matrimony with Joel Schrupp July 27, 2002, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Plato.
Mrs. Schrupp enjoyed entertaining and hosting parties, listening to music, playing cards and stopping at all garage sales. She also loved spending time with her grandkids, tending to her flowers and her angel garden. Mrs. Schrupp loved life and will be remembered for her stern, loving, vibrant and colorful personality. Everyone was Mrs. Schrupp’s favorite.
Mrs. Schrupp is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Germaine Schroeder; maternal grandparents, Leo and Catherine Jacques; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Ruby Schroeder; her children’s father, Michael McManus; sisters-in-law, Christa Schroeder, Scherry Schroeder, Kitty Schroeder; brothers-in-law, Jim Cordell, Dave Berg, Joe Ryan, Michael Stancek, and Gene Spande.
Mrs. Schrupp is survived by her loving family, husband Joel Schrupp of Norwood Young America; children, Joshua (Jamie) Schroeder of Winsted, Life (Aaron Sr.) Gries of Sioux City, Iowa, Isaiah (Melanie) Schroeder of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Eric-Lloyd Schroeder, Takota Schroeder, Dakota Rainwater, Aiden Rainwater, Alexandra Gries, Hannah Gries, Aaron Gries Jr., Taylor Schroeder, Ashton Schroeder; sisters and brothers, Theresa Spande, Harold (special friend Barb) Schroeder, Mary “Bergie” Berg, Wallace (Corinne) Schroeder, Alphonse (Mary) Schroeder, Francis (fiancé Helen) Schroeder, Bernadette (Robert) Scharpe, Florence Stancek, Michael (Lisa) Schroeder, Gerald (Robin) Schroeder, Gregory (special friend Theresa) Schroeder, James (Sharon) Schroeder; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orville and Doris Schrupp; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Helen Schrupp, Amy Schrupp, Jay and Kathy Schrupp; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
