John Richard Glawe, 56, of Buffalo, died Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at St. Cloud Hospital.
The memorial service will be Saturday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo, with visitation two hours prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
John Glawe was born Dec. 30, 1959, in Jackson, to John F. and Sharon (Wieland) Glawe. He was baptized Feb. 7, 1960, at Salem Lutheran Church in Jackson by the Rev. Albert Malberg. He was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Helen Township, Glencoe, by the Rev. Kuske. He graduated from Glencoe High School and attended Alexandria Technical College, studying diesel mechanics. On Oct. 24, 1981, he married Susanne Steffer at United Methodist Church in Arlington. He worked as a diesel operator for the power plant in Glencoe. He was a member of the Glencoe Fire Department for eight years and also was a Cub Scout leader.
The couple moved to Alexandria in 1992, where he worked as a maintenance supervisor at Alexandria Extrusion, then as a machine builder at ITW Hartland. He furthered his education by attending Alexandria Technical College, studying supervisory management. He and his wife attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alexandria, where Mr. Glawe served as a trustee and was a member of the church choir. In 2009, the Glawes moved to Buffalo, where he worked as an electrician at Loram Maintenance of Way in Hamel.
Mr. Glawe enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, motorcycling, camping and traveling to Costa Rica, Belize, Hawaii, Florida and his favorite destination, French Polynesia. He also traveled on cruises to Alaska and the Caribbean.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Glawe; children, Jeremy (Jessica) Glawe and Katie (Steve) Flint; grandchildren, Callie and McKenna Glawe; parents, John and Sharon (Glawe); sisters, Julie (Mark) Miller and Nancy (Mark) Fonfara; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were with the Peterson Chapel in Buffalo.
