Jolanda Popelka

Jolanda V. Popelka, 71, of Mayer, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at the Victoria Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Feb. 9, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Community in Waconia with the Rev. Bennet Tran as the celebrant.
Serving as urn bearers were Mrs. Popelka’s children. Interment was in the St. Pius X Catholic Cemetery in Glencoe.
Jolanda Popelka was born May 7, 1946, in Drayton, North Dakota, the daughter of Vernon and Alma (Martinson) Dahl. On April 30, 1966, she was united in marriage to Jerome Popelka at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Minnetonka.
Mrs. Popelka loved being outside on the farm, raising her children and tending to the animals. She was a prayer warrior and a lover of Jesus; going to church was a top priority. She liked to listen to and sing a variety of music. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting and sewing and loved to read.
She is survived by her loving family, including children, Brian (Pam) Popelka of New Auburn, Brad (Stacey) Popelka of Winona, Daniel Popelka of Minneapolis, Todd (Kristin) Popelka of Mayer and Sarah (Travis) Frank of Waconia; grandchildren, Jennifer Popelka, Justin Popelka, Jack Popelka, Weston Frank, Cash Frank and Lydia Frank; great-granddaughter, Baylee Ann Popelka; brother, Jim Thortsen; sisters, Harriet Lodermeier and Sharon Campbell; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Hanson, Paul Popelka, Louise Artmann and Dale Evans; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; parents, Vernon and Alma Dahl; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Chuck Lodermeier, Carol Thortsen, Ervin and Elaine Frauendienst, Clarence Hanson, Mary Popelka, Gilbert Artmann and Rachel Evans.
