Joyce Annette Rund, 74, Battle Lake

Joyce Annette Rund, 74, of Battle Lake, died Thursday morning, Oct. 5, 2017, at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
The funeral service is today (Wednesday, Oct. 11) at 1 p.m. at Rock Prairie Lutheran Church, rural Elbow Lake, with the Rev. Zinta Sundby officiating. Interment will be in the Rock Prairie Lutheran Cemetery, Elbow Lake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
She was born July 16, 1943, in Graceville, to John T. and Ethel (Heimann) Aswege. She attended grade school at Trinity Christian Day School in Johnson, and graduated from West Central School of Agriculture in 1961.
On Sept. 14, 1963, she married Kenwood Rund at Trinity Lutheran Church near Johnson. The couple lived in rural Glencoe for 40 years, where she was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Helen Township. She taught Sunday school for St. John’s for eight years, drove a school bus for Glencoe Schools for several years, and also drove a truck for UPS. For more than 15 years, she was the office manager at her husband’s chiropractic offices in Glencoe and Norwood Young America.
One of Mrs. Rund’s most passionate pastimes was bowling with “the girls.” She also enjoyed traveling, golf, watching and feeding birds (especially eagles, and she was always excited to see the birds in the springtime), gardening, crocheting, cooking and finding new recipes to try out. At one time, she had a herd of 21 dairy goats which she enjoyed.
She is survived by her husband, Kenwood Rund of Battle Lake (Stalker Lake); children, Lisa Rund of Hutchinson and Brett Rund of Glencoe; sister, Elaine (George) Harstad of Herman; and a brother, Armand (Garnet) Aswege of Graceville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ethel Aswege.
Arrangements are with the Olson Funeral Home in Fergus Falls. Online condolences may be made at www.OlsonFuneralHome.com.
