Kevin Erickson

Kevin Erickson, 62, of Darwin, husband of Terrie, died Saturday, May 19, 2018, as the result of an automobile accident.
Memorial services were held Thursday, May 31, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton with the Rev. R. Allan Reed officiating. Dawn Wolter was the organist. Congregational hymns were “How Great Thou Art,” “Amazing Grace” and “On Eagle’s Wings.”
Urn bearers were Lexis Markgraf and Payton Norsworthy.
Kevin Scott Erickson was born Sept. 19, 1955, in Grand Rapids, the son of Kenneth and Jean (Cleaveland) Erickson. He was baptized as an infant at Suomi Lutheran Church in Marcell, Minnesota, and confirmed in his faith as a youth at First Congregational Church in Hutchinson. He received his education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School class of 1974. He furthered his education at the Hutchinson Vocational School (now Ridgewater College) and received his welding and nondestructive testing (NDT) degree.
He entered active military service in the U.S. Army on June 27, 1975, in Minneapolis, and served his country during peace time. He was honorably discharged on June 17, 1977, at Fort Dix, New Jersey, and achieved the rank of specialist (SP4).
He was blessed with one daughter, Andrea.
On March 19, 1996, he was united in marriage to Terrie Hedtke in Las Vegas, Nevada. They resided in the Hutchinson area and shared 22 years of marriage.
Mr. Erickson owned and operated Erickson Auto in Hutchinson for many years. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton and also attended All Saints Lutheran Church in Darwin. He also was a member of the Hutchinson American Legion Post 96 and the Hutchinson Elks Lodge 2427.
He enjoyed fishing in a boat, ice fishing and playing the card game Texas Hold ’Em. He also enjoyed going out to eat with his friends and attending family gatherings. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Terrie Erickson of Darwin; daughter, Andrea Norsworthy of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Lexis (Logan) Markgraf of Fort Hood, Texas, and Payton Norsworthy of Hutchinson; great-granddaughter, Braelynn of Hutchinson; baby grandson due in June 2018; mother, Jean Erickson of Hutchinson; siblings, Patti (Simon) Lenz of Hutchinson, Kenny (Celia) Erickson of Fort Myers, Florida, and Terry Erickson of Deer River; father-in-law and mother-in-law, LeRoy and Rosie Hedtke of Stewart; brother-in-law, Todd Hedtke of Stewart; special friends, Kent and Renee Glessing of Hutchinson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Erickson; brother, Kurtiss Erickson; and grandparents, Orville and Alberta Cleaveland and Hjalmer and Gertrude Erickson.
