LaDonna Grochow, 88, of Gaylord, passed away Friday, March 15, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, March 19, 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord with interment in the church cemetery.
Rev. James King was the officiating clergy.
Jeanne Bruss was the organist and Walt Asmus Jr. played the trumpet.
The Immanuel Choir performed, “There Is a Redeemer.”
“In The Cross Of Christ Thy Glory,” “For All The Saints,” “Amazing Grace,” and “Now The Light Has Gone Away” were the congregational hymns.
LaDonna’s grandsons, Richard Busse, Nathan Busse, Greg Grochow, Philip Grochow, Grant Grochow, Vincent Grochow, Quentin Grochow and Gannon Grochow were the casket-bearers.
LaDonna Adelia Grochow was born March 31, 1930, in Penn Township, McLeod County. She was the daughter of Rueben and Elsie (Tietz) Wendlandt. LaDonna was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at St. Mathew’s Lutheran Church in Penn Township. She received her education at District No. 16 Country School in Penn Township and was a graduate of the Brownton High School.
LaDonna was united in marriage to Wayne Grochow May 3, 1949, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Penn Township, McLeod County. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Transit Township, Sibley County. Mrs. Grochow was a loving mother and homemaker. She liked to stay busy and helped her children out in their different professions. LaDonna and Wayne were blessed with three children. The couple shared 56 years of marriage before Wayne passed away on March 28, 2006.
Mrs. Grochow was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord.
She passed away Friday, March 15, 2019, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord at the age of 88 years. Blessed be her memory.
Mrs. Grochow is survived by her children, Donnie Grochow and his wife, Brenda of rural Winthrop, Eileen Busse and her husband, Dennis of Arlington, and Brian Grochow and his wife, Irene of Glencoe; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Marcella Dose of Arlington; sister-in-law, RhoDella Grochow of Hutchinson; brother-in-law, Lester Lindeman of Glencoe; many other relatives and friends.
LaDonna was preceded in death by her parents, Rueben and Elsie Wendlandt; husband, Wayne Grochow; grandson, Wade Busse; sister, Cevella Lindeman; brother, Delford (Elva) Wendlandt; brothers-in-law, Melvin Dose, Melvin Grochow, and Nelford (Mildred) Krueger.
