Lucille Rolf, 89, of Lester Prairie

Lucille “Lucy” Violet (Ide) Rolf, 89, of Lester Prairie, passed away Monday, Nov. 23, at Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
A private family funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 1, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with interment in the church cemetery.
Pastor Eric Nelson was the officiating clergy.
Lynn Mueller was the organist and soloist James Ide performed, “In The Garden.”
“Abide With Me” and “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” were the congregational hymns.
Lucille’s grandchildren were the casket-bearers.
Lucille “Lucy” Violet (Ide) Rolf was born March 9, 1931, in Bergen Township, Lester Prairie. She was the daughter of Albert and Ella (Zebell) Ide. Pastor J.A. Schert baptized Lucille as an infant March 15, 1931, at her home. Pastor A.F. Vomhof later confirmed her faith as a youth April 2, 1944, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Lucille attended country school through the eighth grade, including two years at the Lutheran school in Lester Prairie.
On Aug. 22, 1959, Pastor A.F. Vomhof united Lucille in marriage to Roland “Rollie” Benjamin Rolf at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Lucy and Rollie made their home in Lester Prairie. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Charles, Monica, Ronald and Wade. Lucy and Rollie shared over 54 years of marriage together until Rollie passed away March 17, 2014.
In her younger years, Mrs. Rolf worked as a waitress at Dibbs Café and later worked at Tonka Toys in Mound. She also worked at Roger’s Jack & Jill grocery store in Lester Prairie as well as cleaned at the offices of Schoenberger’s Dental Office and Young America Insurance Company. Lucy was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. As her ministry to the church, Lucy attended Bible study, sang in the church choir and served on the sandwich ministry and funeral committee.
Mrs. Rolf enjoyed attending auctions, embroidering, playing cards and games, putting together puzzles, traveling, listening to old-time music and supporting the Minnesota Twins, but her true passion was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was so proud to be called Grandma the Great.
Lucille passed away Monday, Nov. 23, at Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield, at the age of 89 years, 8 months and 14 days. Blessed be her memory.
Mrs. Rolf is survived by her daughter, Monica Watry and her husband, Herb, of Litchfield; sons, Ronald Rolf and his wife, Pam, of Waco, Texas, Wade Rolf and his wife, Tamra, of Hutchinson; daughter-in-law, Gail Rolf of Lester Prairie; grandchildren, Christopher Rolf of Lester Prairie, Nichole Rejkowski and her husband, Mike, of Carrollton, Texas, Kristin Rogers and her husband, Karl, of Oronoco, John Watry and his wife, Emily, of Chaska, Nicholas Watry and his wife, Shelby, of Gasport, N.Y., Haley Waldorf and her husband, Taylor, of Chanhassen, Josiah Rolf of Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Sophia Rogers, Jocelyn Rogers, Brielle Rogers, Josie Watry, Sadie Watry, Grace Watry, Colton Watry, Avery Rejkowski, Henley Rejkowski, Micah Waldorf, Baby Waldorf due in May; brother, Victor Ide of Hutchinson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jeannine Murphy of Hudson, Wis., Mary Birkholz of New Richmond, Wis., Louis Rolf and his wife, Jenny, of New Richmond, Wis., Richard Rolf and his wife, Barb, of Cambridge, Md., Betty Rolf of Burnsville; nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ella Ide; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred and Agnes Rolf; husband, Roland “Rollie” Rolf; son, Charles “Chuck” Rolf; siblings, Deloris and Henry Richter, Albin and Alice Ide, Elmer and Helen Ide, Alta and Joe Graupmann, Bernice and Harold Lindquist; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lucy Ide, James Murphy, Nancy Rolf, George Birkholz and Charlie Rolf.
