Marion Alma Templin, 87, of Waconia

Marion Templin
Marion Alma Templin, 87, of Waconia, formerly of New Germany, died Monday, April 4, 2016, at Good Samaritan Society in Waconia.
 
Funeral services were held Monday, April 11, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in New Germany with the Rev. LeRoy LaPlant officiating.
Margel Kirchoff was the organist. Soloist Franklin Schoenke sang “Muede Bin Ich, Geh Zur Ruh.” Congregational hymns were “I Know That My Redeemer Lives,” “Jesus, Lead Thou On” and “Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me.”
 
Honorary casket bearers were Mrs. Templin's eight granddaughters, and casket bearers were her 10 grandsons.
 
Interment was in the church cemetery.
 
Marion Alma (Gruenhagen) Templin was born May 12, 1928, in Green Isle, the daughter of Henry Jr. and Alma (Belter)  Gruenhagen. She was baptized as an infant on May 20, 1928, and was confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 29, 1942, both by the Rev. Heinrich Bouman at Emanuel Lutheran Church in rural Hamburg. She completed her education through the ninth grade.
 
On March 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to Herman Templin by the Rev. Wohlfeil at Emanuel Lutheran Church in rural Hamburg. The couple made their home in Plato until 1949, when they moved to a farm west of New Germany. In 1979, they moved south of New Germany, where Mr. Templin ran his sawmill. In 2009, Mrs. Templin became a resident of Good Samaritan Center in Waconia. Their marriage was blessed with six children, Mavis, Bernice, Ronald, Rose Ann, Charles and Roger. The couple shared over 58 years of marriage before Mr. Templin’s death on Aug. 5, 2004.
 
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs. Templin was the janitor at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in New Germany. She was an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, where she served on the ladies aid.
 
Mrs. Templin enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning, painting, reading and word search puzzles. She loved traveling to Germany and attending German celebrations.  She cherished the time spent with her friends and family, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild.
 
She is survived by her children, Mavis (Virgil) Hecksel of Watertown; Bernice (Dan) Miller of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Ronald (Susanne) Templin of Plato, Charles Templin (special friend Dee Brown) of Montrose and Roger (Ruth) Templin of New Germany; grandchildren, Dianna Hecksel (fiancé Mark Angier), Danita (Scott) Strand, Donna (Russ) Storms, David Hecksel (special friend Lynn Baldy), Daniel (Beth) Hecksel, Tim (Jacqueline) Miller, Todd Miller, Troy (Jenn) Miller, Tarah (Jacob) Iversen, Shari Templin, Adam Templin, Mark Halverson, Christopher Dyke, Charly (Laura) Templin Jr., Andrew (Jennifer) Templin, Elizabeth Templin, Rebecca (Zech) Wood and Jacqueline Henrichs; great-grandchildren, Mistique (fiancé Adam), Amanda (special friend Marcus), Shandy, Evan, Cody (wife Katelyn), Zack, Megan, Matthew, Faith, Noah, Kirsten, Audra, Annika, Ewan, Elizabeth, Jackson, Mayah, Hayden, Kayla, Brandon, Carter, Amanda, Rebecca, Kai and McKenna; great-great-grandchild, Kyler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many other friends.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Jr. and Alma Gruenhagen; husband, Herman Templin; daughter, Rose Ann Templin; siblings and their spouses, Leona and Harold Wroge, Ottilie and William Hoernemann and Martin and Irene Gruenhagen; parents-in-law, Otto and Anna Templin; stepmother-in-law, Alvina Templin; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Esther and Harold Schrupp.
