Marion Eggersgluess, 86, of Glencoe

Marion Alice (Litzau) Eggersgluess

Marion Alice (Litzau) Eggersgluess, 86, of Glencoe, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe.
A funeral service was held Friday, March 1, 11 a.m., at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with interment in the First Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery. A visitation began an hour prior to the service at the church.
Pastor Peter Adelsen was the officiating clergy.
Paul Otte was the organist. “Jesus Loves Me,” “Just As I Am,” “Rock Of Ages,” and “Abide With Me” were the congregational hymns.
Katie Rauch and Krista Stadick were the honorary casket-bearers. Tom Stadick, Nick Rauch, Randy Eggersgluess, Larry Litzau, Adam Eggersgluess, and Robert Raether were the casket-bearers.
Marion Alice (Litzau) Eggersgluess was born Jan. 12, 1933, in Green Isle Township, Sibley County. She was the daughter of Henry and Winnie (Milbrand) Litzau. She was baptized as an infant January 29, 1933, by Pastor A. Dysterhoft and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 14, 1946, by Pastor H. H. Schaller both at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Helen Township, rural Glencoe. Her confirmation verse was 1 Corinthians 6:20 – “We are bought with a price therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” Marion received her education in Glencoe, Minnesota, graduating with the Steven’s Seminary, Glencoe High School, May 31, 1951.
Marion was united in marriage to Lyle Otto Eggersgluess June 5, 1953, by Pastor Karl J. Plocher at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Helen Township, rural Glencoe. They made their home in Glencoe. In November of 2016, Mrs. Eggersgluess moved to Grand Meadows and then in January of 2019, she moved to GlenFields. Marion and Lyle shared over 54 years of marriage until Lyle passed away Jan. 24, 2008.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Mrs. Eggersgluess worked outside the home. She worked at the Glencoe Hospital in medical records from 1951-1955 and then again in 1970 until her retirement. Mrs. Eggersgluess also worked at Shamla Oil in Glencoe as a bookkeeper. She was a faithful member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, and was involved in the altar guild. Mrs. Eggersgluess was also very active in the Glencoe VFW Auxiliary Post No. 5102 in Glencoe.
Mrs. Eggersgluess enjoyed bowling, fishing, spending time at their trailer on Lake Andrew by Alexandria, watching sports, playing cards and working crossword puzzles. She was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother and cherished time spent with her family and friends.
Mrs. Eggersgluess passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, at the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 14 days. Blessed be her memory.
Mrs. Eggersgluess is survived by her sons, Neil Eggersgluess and his wife, Cindy, of Plato, Keith Eggersgluess and his wife, Kathy, of Arlington; grandchildren, Katie Rauch and her husband, Nick, of Arlington, Krista Stadick and her husband, Tom, of New Ulm; great-grandchildren, Bennett Rauch, Taylor Rauch, Aiden Stadick, Alex Stadick; sisters, Edna Kruschke and her husband, Gordon, of Glencoe, Anita Thiesfeld of Glencoe; brother-in-law, Dennis Eggersgluess and his wife, Alice, of Glencoe; sister-in-law, Adeline Litzau of Glencoe; nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
Mrs. Eggersgluess was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Winnie Litzau; husband, Lyle Eggersgluess; brothers, Melvin Litzau, Gene Litzau and his wife, Helaine; sisters, Lenora Swanson and her husband, Alvin, Mabel Raether and her husband, Herbert; brother-in-law, Melvin Thiesfeld.
