Mavis Huepenbecker, 81, of Glencoe

Mavis Huepenbecker, 81, of Glencoe, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at the St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 10, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Plato with the Rev. Brian Brosz officiating.
Serving as urn bearers were her grandchildren, Jerad, Joslin, Jalissa, Cole, Mandy and Grace, and honorary urn bearers were her great-grandchildren, Kade, William, Eli, Brooke, Cora, Pierce, Kinsley and Brayden.
Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mavis Hilda Hannah (Schwirtz) Huepenbecker was born to William and Ida (Kamps) Schwirtz on May 30, 1933, in Waconia. She was baptized June 25, 1933, at the St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church of Hamburg by the Rev. Otto Vriesen. She confirmed her faith as a young adult at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church.
On June 23, 1951, she was united in marriage to Frederick Huepenbecker at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Plato. The couple lived on the Huepenbecker family farm near Plato until 1967, at which time they became residents of Glencoe.
Mrs. Huepenbecker worked for the Crystal Theatre and later the Green Giant canteen. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, quilting blankets and adding to her eclectic collection of dolls. She loved to prepare feasts for her family and baking treats to share with others. She enjoyed having garage sales and spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Huepenbecker loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and cherished the special moments she created for each one. She will be remembered for her love of life and forever being young at heart.
She is survived by her loving family, including her children, Wayne (Dawn) Huepenbecker of Litchfield, Lois (Dale) Schlauderaff of Glencoe, and Lori (Scott) Daak of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Jerad (Valerie) Huepenbecker, Joslin (Jason) Thiemann, Jalissa (Chad) Kruckman, Cole (Stephanie) Schlauderaff, Mandy Schlauderaff and Grace Daak; great-grandchildren, Kade, William and Eli Huepenbecker, Brooke, Cora and Pierce Thiemann, and Kinsley and Brayden Kruckman; sister, LuAnna Goetz of Waconia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Betty Schwirtz of Eagan, Lorna Schwirtz of Norwood Young America, Betty Schmitz of Pierz, Fidelis Schwirtz of Bloomington, Doris and Orville Schrupp of Plato, and Doris and Elwood Huepenbecker of Mankato; many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Huepenbecker; parents, William and Ida Schwirtz; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Amanda Huepenbecker; brothers, Wyman Schwirtz, William Schwirtz, Wilford (Louise) Schwirtz, Kenny Schmitz and Raymond Schwirtz; sisters, Leona Schmitz and Myrtle (Wilbert) Panning; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vincent Goetz, Lorna and Max Birkholz, and Hilda and Leonard Oelfke.
