Mayor, two council members take oath of office in Silver Lake

The Silver Lake City Council welcomed two new faces and one familiar face to its tanks at the annual organizational meeting Monday, Jan. 4.
Bruce Bebo was sworn in as mayor, returning to the council after a two-year hiatus. Newcomers Sandie Adams-Bruins and Michelle Schneider were also sworn in as new council members, filling the seats of longtime council members Brenda Fogarty and Nolan Johnson. The new members join councilors Chris Penaz and Josh Winfrey.
The council quickly moved through the annual appointments. Penaz will serve as acting mayor in Bebo’s absence as well as serve as the public works liaison. Adams-Bruins will serve as the public safety liaison, which includes working with the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office, fire department and ambulance service.
