McLeod County sees big jump in COVID-19 cases

Community members should take preventative measures
The sharp uptick of positive COVID-19 cases in the past week in McLeod County is affecting Glencoe Regional Health. On Monday, Nov. 9, nearly double the number of patients utilized the drive-up COVID-19 testing.
Normally 40 people on average are tested daily. Monday, 78 people were tested. Due to the overwhelming number of cases, Glencoe Regional Health is limiting who is tested to people who are experiencing COVID-like symptoms. Symptoms of COVID-19 include: fever, cough, difficulty breathing, chills, body aches, fatigue, headache, sore throat, diarrhea, and new loss of taste or smell.
If you have these symptoms, call the Glencoe Regional Health COVID hotline at 320-864-7168 to schedule an appointment to get tested. Because of the high volume of calls the hospital is receiving, people may need to leave a message, and one of the hospital staff members will call back as soon as possible. It is also important to stay home, away from others in your household. As much as possible, stay in a separate room and use a separate bathroom, if available. Avoid sharing personal household items. Do not share food, dishes, drinking glasses, eating utensils, towels, or bedding with other people in your home. After using these items, wash them thoroughly with soap and water. Clean all frequently-touched surfaces in your home daily, including door knobs, light switches, or faucets.
