Minnesota Nice ends with strong final season

Minnesota Nice’s final season of sending care packages to active military personnel definitely ended with a bang rather than whimper.
The Minnesota Nice crew sent out a record-high 400 packages this year, with Linda Krueger and her two stalwart volunteers, LaDonna Stuber and Colleen Benjamin, packing the final 22 on Tuesday, Jan. 2, and mailing them out the next day.
In 2016-17, the trio packed and mailed 284 care boxes. Krueger had hoped to reach 300 this year, and busted that goal with the 400 total.
“You know, I’m always careful about singling anyone out, because every contribution is important, but the Glencoe Lions and the Glencoe Legion really came through for us this year,” said Krueger. “But I want to thank everyone who donated this year; every dollar and every item is important and very much appreciated.”
Krueger announced in December that, for a variety of reasons, this would be the group’s last year.
She also thanked Benjamin and Stuber for sticking by her all these years as the project grew.
“We started out with a card table,” said Krueger. “Then it was a banquet table. Then it was my entire basement.”
Krueger said she got involved with the effort because she wanted to support U.S. military.
“I felt I had to do what I could for them, because of all they do for us,” she said.
