MnDOT presents ideas for safety fixes on highways 212, 22
Although there is no immediate funding available for safety improvements planned at Highway 212 intersections in Glencoe, the Minnesota Department of Transportation presented its plans for keeping intersections along Highway 212 safer.
At a brief presentation Monday evening at Glencoe City Center, MnDOT staff and consultants spelled out a plan to make the intersections of North Chandler Avenue and Highway 212, Morningside Drive and Highway 212, Falcon Avenue and Highway 212, County Road 9 and Highway 212 and County Road 1 and Highway 212 all safer. The proposal presented, suggestions based on citizen input, call for a roundabout or a J-turn at the intersection of North Chandler Avenue and Highway 212. A roundabout is planned for the intersection of Morningside Drive and Highway 212.
MnDOT said there have been 10 crashes at the intersection of Highway 212 and North Chandler Avenue between 2013 and 2017.
