Monica M. Albers, 96, of Winsted, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted.
A concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. Celebrants were the Revs. Tony Stubeda and Paul Schumacher.
Casket bearers were Scott Rehmann, Steve Rehmann, Mark Rehmann, Nic Rehmann, Jeff Albers and Cory Albers.
She was born Jan. 15, 1920, in Glencoe, the daughter of Louis and Elizabeth (Artmann) Kegler.
On Oct. 4, 1939, Monica M. Kegler and Norbert R. Albers were joined in holy marriage at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Glencoe. The couple engaged in dairy farming for many years. Mrs. Albers also was employed at The Coffee Shop, Jim’s Bakery, Roufs’ Meat Market and at The Blue Note Ballroom in Winsted.
She enjoyed bingo, fishing, playing cards and big gardens, and family was important to her.
She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted and belonged to its Catholic Aid, and was a member of Holy Family Council 204. She also cooked many funeral lunches throughout the years.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Elizabeth “Betty” (Dennis) Rehmann and Jeanette Albers, all of Winsted; grandchildren, Jeff Albers (Stacey Kahlert), Scott (Katie) Rehmann, Sue (Bill) Keenan, Karen (Dan) Stifter, Lyn (Jason) Zeppelin, Mark (Alicia) Rehmann, Cory (Lennie) Albers, Steve Rehmann (special friend Christiane Cuadros) and Nick Rehmann (fianceé Brianna Dahl); 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Benilda Greshowak of South St. Paul; a sister-in-law, Diane Kegler of St. Paul; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert R. Albers on May 6, 2003; grandson, Jacques Eric Albers on Feb. 6, 1999; son, James M. Albers on May 11, 1999; parents, Louis and Elizabeth Kegler; five brothers, Anthony Kegler, Sylvester Kegler, Aloysius Kegler, Father Maynard C. Kegler, OMI, and Stanislaus “Stan” Kegler.
