Myrtle Irene Anderson, 88, of Glencoe

Myrtle Anderson

Myrtle Irene Anderson, 88, of Glencoe, formerly of Jackson, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at her home at Orchard Estates in Glencoe.
A private family interment will be held at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Jackson.
Myrtle Irene (Jensen) Anderson was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Jackson, to Otto and Mary Jensen. She was baptized as an infant at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, and was later confirmed in her faith there. She attended Jackson Public School.
On Dec. 9, 1948, she was united in marriage to Theodore “Ted” Anderson at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Linda and Diane. The couple shared over 64 years of marriage before Mr. Anderson’s death in 2013.
The couple resided in Jackson until the birth of their daughter Linda, when they moved to Farmington, where Diane was born. Mrs. Anderson worked at Castle Rock Bank in Castle Rock as a secretary to the bank president. In 1962, the couple made a life change and purchased the Head-O-Lake Resort on Lake Vermilion in Cook. They later renamed it Anderson’s Head-O-Lake Resort. They retired in 1983, but the resort is still in operation today.
Along with owning the resort came the ownership and operation of a small general store where Mrs. Anderson became known as the pie lady. Guests and local residents would come daily to the lunch counter for a piece of her delicious pie, coffee and good fish stories. In the winter, she operated an income tax preparation service and served as church secretary for the Covenant Church for 35 years. She also enjoyed sewing, crafting and other hobby activities.
In 1999, after spending their early retirement in the home they built on Lake Vermilion, the couple returned to their hometown of Jackson. It was there that Mrs. Anderson returned to the activities at the Presbyterian Church and reunited with many friends and classmates.
In 2014, after her husband’s death, Mrs. Anderson moved to Orchard Estates in Glencoe to be closer to her daughters. She quickly made new friendships and looked forward to bingo and Sunday evening hand and foot games.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Lindberg and her special friend, Steve Soeffker, of Glencoe; and Diane Anderson and her special friend, Kari Bradison, of Plum City, Wisconsin; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Mary Jensen; husband, Ted Anderson; brothers, Charles, Einer, Freeman and Ralph; and sister, Gladys.
Arrangements were with the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe. Online obituaries and guest book are available at www.mcbridechapel.com.
