Orlin W. Dammann, 83, of Glencoe

Orlin Willard Dammann, 83, of Glencoe, formerly of Plato, died Monday, May 11, 2015, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Memorial services and interment were private, with Rev. Tyson  Mastin officiating. Hymns were “Abide With Me”and “Just As I Am.”
Orlin Willard Dammann was born Nov. 17, 1931, in Helen Township, McLeod County. He was the son of Henry and Viona (Wuetherich) Dammann. He was baptized as an infant on Nov. 29, 1931, by the Rev. Bouman, and confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 25, 1945, by the Rev. Wohlfeil, both at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg.
He received his education through the eighth grade at Emanuel Lutheran Parochial School in Hamburg. He entered active military service in the U.S. Army on April 24, 1953, and served his country during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge on April 13, 1955, as a corporal.
On June 19, 1960, Mr. Dammann was united in marriage to Eloise Mackenthun by the Rev. Carl Plocher at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Helen Township. The couple made their home on the Dammann family farm in rural Norwood until 2013, when they moved to Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with one son, Jerrod. They shared over 54 years of marriage.
Mr. Dammann was a farmer and retired in 1995. He also worked at Empak Group in Waconia for 101⁄2 years. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato.
Mr. Dammann enjoyed woodworking, traveling and playing cards. He cherished the time spent with his friends and family, especially his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise Dammann of Glencoe; son, Jerrod (Crystal) Dammann of Norwood Young America; grandsons, Steven Dammann, Austin Dammann and Robert Dammann; sister, Luella Kendall of Eden Prairie; brother-in-law, Loren (Darlene) Mackenthun of Glencoe; sisters-in-law, Norma Michaelis of Arlington and Bonnie (Ned) Davis of Wendall; nephews; nieces; other relatives; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Viona Dammann; brother-in-law, Marvin Michaelis; and niece, Harriet Brown.
