Panthers rally past Albany in Streich's return

While the Glencoe-Silver Lake football team lost one top-notch backfield performer after running back Adrian Trevino went down with a torn ACL, it regained another as rusher Carsen Streich returned to the gridiron for last Friday’s home game against Albany.
The senior made his presence felt almost immediately, carrying the ball 20 times for 125 yards and two touchdowns as the Panthers rallied to defeat the Huskies 21-14 and improve to 3-1 on the autumn.
Streich showed no ill effects from the spleen injury he suffered this past summer as he completed GSL’s comeback from a 14-7 halftime deficit with a 66-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. The points provided the Panthers with the winning margin in the closely-contested matchup.
“I know he was excited to come back,” coach Scott Tschimperle said. “He was ready to play and ran like he had never missed a game.”
GSL barely led in the game before Streich’s scoring play. Albany took an initial 6-0 lead early in the second quarter after recovering a Panther fumble on an attempted punt return.
